Bremen lies on both banks of the River Weser, 60 km from where it reaches the North Sea. The city is 38 km long and 16 km wide.

Bremen consists of 5 districts and 23 neighborhoods.

One of Bremen's most popular attractions is the House of Bells in Betherstraße. It houses a carillon of 30 bells made of Meissen porcelain and is equipped with a computer remote control. One of the most important monuments in Bremen is St. Peter's Cathedral.

The Church of the Holy Virgin (Marienkirche) is the oldest preserved church in Bremen. Also, visitors can see the southern Romanesque tower (c. 1100) and the oldest relic of the cathedral - the Romanesque crypt (c. 1020) with medieval paintings.
